Protection at work for you, your colleagues and clients
Care Quality Commission
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has a quick guide to whistleblowing or guidance for workers. This gives helpful advice on speaking out about poor care and what protection the law gives you. If you have any concerns about the quality of care provided by an employer, you can call the CQC anonymously on 03000 616 161. You can also email [email protected].
Gangmaster and Labour Abuse Authority
If you have concerns about an employer who may be exploiting the welfare and rights of their staff, you can call the Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority (GLAA) on 0800 432 0804 or email them at [email protected]. You can also find out more information on their website at: Is the GLAA the correct enforcement body for you?
Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service
The Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (ACAS) provides advice on the legal minimum wage, working hours and employment agencies. Contact its free Code-based helpline for Employers.
Employment Agency Standards Inspectorate
The Employment Agency Standards Inspectorate (EAS) regulates employment agencies and businesses. It also enforces minimum standards of conduct in the recruitment sector. Anyone can report concerns about the conduct of a recruitment organisation, agency or collaboration based in Great Britain. This includes if they are charging work-finding fees or if they have not paid you, or someone you know, for all hours worked. You can find contact details for EAS on this GOV.UK page or complete this online form to complain about pay and work rights.
