Support for life in the UK
There are services that can offer support to you while you are working and living in the East of England.
International Recruitment Zone App
The International Recruitment Zone App aims to help you settle into the vibrant communities of the East of England.
You can select the area where you live in to access specific information for that area. It will show you housing options, transport links and local amenities. It will also signpost you to training and job opportunities.
Find the app on the Apple App Store
Help with food
If you need support with the cost of food, a list of food banks is available through the Trussell Trust.
Driving lessons
We are offering a funded package of 10 driving lessons with a driving assessment for international recruits. Find out if you are eligible for free driving lessons.
Accommodation
Communities 1st provide accommodation guides with links to local resources in the East of England. This includes letting agents and public transport. This will help you to make informed and supported choices around housing.
You can raise concerns if your previous employer or sponsor provided your accommodation. Seek advice on your rights and tenancy agreements from Citizens Advice or Shelter.
Computer access
Many local authorities provide free internet access in city centres and public buildings such as libraries.
Internet and computer access in libraries is usually free but you may need to book a slot. See Book internet access in your library at GOV.UK.
Local authorities may also run community hubs or customer service centres where free computer and internet access is available. Check your local council's website for details.
Online Centres Network provides access to the internet and help using it. These services are usually free.
